The University of Northern Colorado (UNC) celebrated the achievements of its Latine
student community with the vibrant and culturally rich LatinXcellence event on Sunday,
April 28.
In its fifth year, the annual event is organized by the Division of Diversity, Equity
and Inclusion, along with the César Chavez Cultural Center and other key allies. Its
serves as a momentous occasion to recognize the hard work, perseverance and accomplishments
of Latine graduates, honoring their journey through academia and beyond.
This spring’s LatinXcellence event provided a platform for more than 600 participants,
including students, faculty, staff and families, to come together in unity and celebration,
showcasing the diverse talents, resilience and contributions of the Latine community
at UNC. Attendees were treated to inspiring speeches by UNC’s President Andy Feinstein,
Rogelio GarcÃa-Pérez from the COSI program and graduating student Izbeth Pacheco Holguin,
who shared about the relevance of having representation in the classrooms. The audience
also enjoyed the captivating performance of Andrea Camacho, who sang a song from The Little Mermaid, a series of songs interpreted by the Latin
Music Ensamble conducted by the new Director, Javier Viñasco, and heartfelt expressions of pride and solidarity from
friends and families.
As graduates crossed the stage, they were cheered on by their peers and loved ones,
marking the culmination of their academic endeavors and the beginning of exciting
new chapters in their lives.

La Universidad del Norte de Colorado (UNC) celebró los logros de su comunidad estudiantil
latina con el vibrante y culturalmente rico evento LatinXcellence el domingo 28 de
abril.
En su quinto aniversario, este evento anual fue organizado por la División de Diversidad,
Equidad e Inclusión, junto con el Centro Cultural César Chávez y otros aliados clave.
El evento sirvió como una ocasión trascendental para reconocer el trabajo duro, la
perseverancia y los logros de los graduados latinx, honrando su trayectoria a través
de la academia y más allá.
El LatinXcellence de esta primavera proporcionó una plataforma para que más de 600
participantes incluyendo estudiantes, profesores, personal administrativo y familias
se reunieran en comunidad y celebración, mostrando los diversos talentos y contribuciones
de la comunidad latine en UNC. Los asistentes disfrutaron de discursos inspiradores
por parte del presidente de la UNC Andy Feinstein, Rogelio GarcÃa-Pérez del programa
COSI, asà como la graduada Izbeth Pacheco Holguin, quien habló de la importancia de
la representación en el salón de clases. La audiencia también disfrutó de la cautivadora
voz de Andrea Camacho quien cantó La Sirenita, una serie de canciones interpretadas
por el Latin Music Ensamble a cargo del director del nuevo Javier Viñasco, asà como expresiones sinceras de orgullo y solidaridad por parte
de familires y amigos.
A medida que los graduados cruzaban el escenario, eran aplaudidos por sus compañeros
y seres queridos, marcando el final de sus esfuerzos académicos y el comienzo de nuevos
y emocionantes capÃtulos en sus vidas.
Ciento veintidós estudiantes latinos participaron en la ceremonia LatinXcellence.
