IRB Training Requirements
All researchers and key personnel (including their advisor if the PI is a student) conducting human subjects research must complete IRB training. This requirement can be met by completing the online CITI course or attending a live training session. Training must be successfully completed prior to receiving IRB approval. All training certificates are good for 4 years.
Key Personnel is defined as the PI, xxxÖ±²¥ Collaborators, xxxÖ±²¥ Coordinators, xxxÖ±²¥ Assistants, External xxxÖ±²¥ers, xxxÖ±²¥ Staff, Administrators and other investigators who are directly involved in conducting research with study participants or who are directly involved with handling private information related to study participants during a research project.
Online Training
- Faculty and staff must successfully complete one of the following CITI course groups:
- Social & Behavior xxxÖ±²¥ Investigators OR
- Biomedical xxxÖ±²¥ Investigators
- Students must completed the following CITI course group:
- Students Conducting No More Than Minimal Risk xxxÖ±²¥
Refresher courses are available for each of the above groups upon expiration of your initial training.
Live Training
Live training sessions will be held approximately once per semester and are open to all members of the campus community. If you have a group of 10 or more students or faculty that need to complete training and you would like to request an in-person training for your group, please contact Laura Martin to schedule.
